Mia Walton’s work is informed by a background in psychology, her photographic practice interrogates the mechanics of emotion, using visual tension to trigger a visceral, subconscious response. Her work balances an unapologetic, high-fashion energy with the unsettling atmosphere of horror cinema, seeking to capture a feeling rather than a literal document.

Drawing from the graphic composition of manga and the character-driven world-building of video games, Walton treats each frame as a singular narrative beat.

By pairing dramatic backdrops with fluid motion and the stillness of liminal spaces, she constructs highly stylised portals: vivid scenes where every image functions as a distinct emotional state inhabited by unique characters.
